STYLE GURU BIO: Aki Weaver

Hey guys. My name is Aki and I’m super excited to be a part of CollegeFashionista! I’m currently a sophomore at the University of Tampa. I haven’t declared my major yet, although, I will more than likely study public relations.

I’m originally from Tokyo, Japan, but have lived all over the world due to my father’s job in the military. Living in the city from a young age, I was exposed to all kinds of style. My mother (who has great style, by the way) often took me shopping, which I believe sparked my interest in fashion.

I come from a very creative background. My father was a music educator and my mother was a design major at an accredited art university in Tokyo. Those genes were definitely passed on to me, as I always had the best grades in art and music. I’ve been a dancer for 14 years and entered many creative writing and art competitions in high school. I don’t know what career path I will choose but I know that I will want to blog about fashion, whether it is a job or a hobby.

My favorite outfits are always ones that go for comfort without sacrificing style. Some of my favorite pieces are from Brandy Melville, a store that makes incredibly comfortable clothes that are simple and chic. In fact, my entire outfit, minus my socks and shoes, is from Brandy. My military jacket is perfect for the chillier months in the winter. But since I live in Tampa, it isn’t always that chilly. So I opted for a short-sleeved shirt underneath for when I feel warm. This shirt is, again, incredibly comfortable and festive for the holiday season, since it is red, white and striped! My shorts are high-wasted, light wash and go well with just about anything.

I can’t wait to write more about fashion throughout this internship! Mata-ne! (See ya later!)
