STYLE GURU BIO: Abbey Trusky

Hi, Fashionistas and Fashionistos! My name is Abbey Trusky, and as a new member of the CollegeFashionista team I could not be more excited that I get the opportunity to share my fashion sense with all of you. Hopefully one day I’ll get the chance to pursue a career in the fashion industry, but for now I’m living the life as a sophomore at Saint Vincent College studying Marketing with a minor in Operational Excellence.

One of the main reasons I think I’ve become so fascinated with fashion is because I went to a private school for pretty much my entire life. I never got the chance to show off my style due to the strict uniform rules. The only time I got to express myself was on the weekends when hanging out with my friends, which I looked forward to all the time. As my uniform days continued, so did my love for fashion. Soon I was always skimming through different magazines, such as Seventeen and Teen Vogue looking for new and different trends to try.

With that being said, I am a huge fan of trying new trends to fit into my own personal style. Although, describing my style can be tough, I would have to say that I like a little bit of everything, but nothing too crazy. I usually tend to stick to more neutral colors, but I love to give them them a little edge with some interesting statement pieces to finish off my look. I always find myself adding either a chic statement necklace, a fun hat or sometimes an oversized jean shirt. Accessorizing and layering are two of my favorite things and I never go without doing one of the two for my everyday style.

As one of my favorite designers, Marc Jacobs said, “Clothes mean nothing until someone lives in them,” so go out into the world, be your unique self, but most importantly always dress to impress. I cannot wait to share all of my opinions on different looks, trends and styles that my fellow Bearcats flaunt on campus as I capture their unique street styles each Thursday. Stay tuned and don’t be afraid to click that RAD button if you like what you see.
