STYLE ADVICE: Outfits Are Like Onions, They Have Layers

It is early February in good ole’ Gainesville, Florida, and it’s 80 degrees outside. In reality, at the University of Florida, we really only have two weeks of true winter (if you would even call it that) and then we’re right back to our lace-up sandals and tank tops. This phenomenon makes it somewhat difficult to wear the cute winter clothes in our closets. What’s a girl to do with her cute over-the-knee boots, flare jeans, and leather jacket?

In the mornings, it can start off around a chilly 60 degrees and heat up to 80, so in order to avoid a wardrobe change, your outfit needs to be versatile. This Fashionista’s outfit is a perfect example of how to layer for the weather. Her bomber jacket is the perfect transition piece. It keeps her warm in the morning, but it’s light enough for the afternoon. When she takes off the jacket, her ensemble is still just as stylish, with her over-the-knee boots, jeans, and keyhole top. She keeps her accessories simple with crystal earrings, a kate spade watch, and a silver ring and bangles. If the weather continued to get even hotter or she just wanted to go out for a night on the town, she could easily change into a black suede skirt for an equally trendy look.

This Fashionista really knows how to dress for Florida’s crazy weather—”In all kinds of weather we’ll all stick together for F-L-O-R-I-D-A.”
