STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Winter Warmer

January 28th, 2016 at 2:00am

Dark, cold and stormy are reasons enough to not want to get out of bed. What makes that easier? A super comfy and cozy sweater.

This Fashionista is rocking a large knit sweater perfect for winter. What I love most about this sweater is the neckline. Turtlenecks are a huge trend right now, especially for winter when it comes to layering up like an onion. The neckline of this sweater is a chunkier rolled turtleneck that keeps in warmth without being suffocating.

A subtle olive color is highlighted by the marled yarn texture which is perfectly on-trend for spring 2016. It’s no joke, marled yarn sweaters for spring are a trend to watch for; check it out on Elle.com. I love marled yarn because the multi-colored fibers add more interest to an outfit than a single colored yarn. As well, I can draw more inspiration when coordinating an outfit from the extra colors in the yarn.

Simple and chic, this Fashionista pairs the large sweater with dark slim jeans and laced booties. The dark jeans accentuate the olive and cream colors in the sweater, and the caramel booties contrast the olive for a well-rounded outfit. Her faux fur-lined military style parka helps keeps out the sharp dampness of a West Coast winter, while also adding more interest and texture to the outfit.

Still not convinced that this outfit is as comfy and warm as being bundled up in bed? This Fashionista suggests otherwise.
