STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Tropical Sensation

As many people know, florals are a major trend when spring and summer come around. I always look forward to seeing the different patterns and colors that floral patterns come in. A major trend I’ve been seeing recently is a different type of floral. Instead of just an ordinary flower, I’ve been seeing a lot of tropical flowers and plants. Some major ones I’ve spotted are succulent plants, palm trees and what this Fashionista is wearing, lotus flowers. Palm leaves have been a major trend with interior design as well. It’s a common occurrence to see a green plant instead of flowers when scrolling through home office inspiration on Pinterest. It’s been interesting to see these plants being incorporated into fashion. With these types of flowers and plants, it allows for a broader color scheme and mixing and matching. Also, because these plants and flowers don’t give off too much of a summer vibe, you can wear them well into fall.

This Fashionista, who I spotted on a warm humid day, was wearing an adidas lotus print shirt. My first thought was the song “Lotus Flower Bomb” by Wale. My second thought was wondering why I’ve never seen a lotus flower print shirt before. Getting a closer look at the shirt, I saw that it had a muted color scheme, but it still felt a bit tropical. She paired it with exposed pocket cut-off shorts and white sneakers. I love the print of the lotus flowers and the use of the colors blue, purple and red. Putting those colors on a black shirt made them more vibrant and eye catching.

Whenever wearing these prints, your outfit instantly gets a tropical vibe. It only makes my desire to go on a vacation grow. Since it’s more likely that I’ll visit the mall before I make it to a tropical resort, I’ll be sure to get my hands on these lovely prints before the summer is up.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “In the summer, I usually go for a laid back look with pops of color. There’s no better time than summer to wear prints and colors.”
