STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: The Half-Tuck

The button-up has always been a classic staple in every Fashionista/o’s closet. Classics are always totally rad but sometimes you need to mix it up. An easy way to do this is with the “half-tuck look.” Similarly to the single or mismatch earring, it’s one of those trends that will make passerbys think again when you’re out and about. This look is great because it doesn’t add any time to your morning routine and if you get half-way through your day, you can always tuck the whole top in and change your look. One approach is to rock the classic fully-tucked top for the office with a fitted pant and the “half-tuck” with friends after paired with a skirt (just check that your top isn’t too wrinkly from the day).

To start, you want to unbutton your shirt about one-third of the way up so that the fabric doesn’t completely bunch up in the process. Let the rest drape naturally. This particular feature is on-trend because it’s one of those careless looks that actually has a method to it. You don’t want to look like you were too tired to get dressed in the morning—that’s key.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “My main goal with this look is effortless style. I’m not someone who spends hours getting ready in the morning so I like looks that I know I can add a twist to and stand out among my peers. This look takes practice but it’s totally worth it.”
