STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: The Denim Guide

July 30th, 2015 at 2:00am

Denim, denim, denim—for some it’s their staple piece, for others they just can’t find the right fit. This Fashionista is a denim lover: from high-waisted to mid-rise to distressed to plain blue, she knows what she is doing. I caught up with her and asked her what some of her tips are for being on trend with denim.

The real trick is to find the right fit and the right pair of jeans for you. With denim you can choose from shirts, vest, jackets, etc. but the most necessary are jeans. Depending on your body type, there are so many different fits and brands for you to try. Personally, I am a CARMAR girl. I have tried on pair after pair, bought one designer after the other, but no jean has ever been as flattering on me as CARMAR denim. They are leg slimming, booty plumping and super trendy; but do be careful because some of their styles can give you a bit of a muffin top. The trick for me is trying on the jeans in LF stores with a top and shoes that I would actually wear as an outfit. Once I find my style, I order a couple different color variations of them online.

Like this Fashionista, once I find my perfect fit I become loyal to that brand and style. Since she is petite and has more of a pear-shaped body, she picks jeans that fit her thighs a little tighter but are looser on her waist. Thus, to complement her figure and the form-fitting style of her jeans, she always throws on a crop top or tight shirt. In her case, a flowy shirt would make her looker larger whereas since I am taller, I prefer a fitted flowy shirt. I have an elongated hourglass figure, so for me jeans are tighter on my booty and hips than on my legs. Hence, a little flow around my midriff hides anything my jeans might be showing and keeps me comfortable and confident!

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “My ready outfit is the crop top and jean combination. With a tight clean top and form fitting jeans, you can go from day to night. Keep it casual with sneakers or class it up with heels and a necklace. Either way, a good pair of denim will look sexy on you no matter what.”
