STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: That's A Wrap

One thing I’ve always loved about winter is that I could quickly throw on a cardigan over anything and the outfit seemed complete. I never needed to worry about what old T-shirt I had underneath because the cardigan instantly made the outfit look chic and kept me comfortable. As I step out into our 100 degree weather, it’s safe to say a cardigan is not an option, unfortunately. Folks, it’s time to meet the cardigan of the summer: a kimono.

Kimono jackets are typically made of light material and come in many variations of patterns. What I love about these jackets is that no matter what you pair with them, you’re still going to look incredibly fashionable without trying too hard. Get rid of those palazzo pants you just can’t seem to make work because not everyone can pull them off. (When I say not everyone, I’m referring to myself.) No matter your shape or size, kimonos look great on all body types.

Something in particular that I like about this Fashionista’s kimono is the fringe that adorns it. She went with a floral kimono and paired it with a black tank top and some jean shorts. Another great way to wear this in the fall is to switch up the shorts for some skinny jeans and you’re good to go. It’s just light enough to wear in the summertime but also makes great coverage for when it starts to get a little chilly.

She accessorized her kimono with a Kendra Scott cuff bracelet and a pair of J.Crew earrings. Her shoes, which are also a popular summer trend, are the Jack Rogers Hamptons sandals. This outfit makes me think of everything I love about summer and for that, I give it an A+.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Kimonos are great for any occasion! You could wear one to dinner, or you could throw one over your bathing suit for a colorful cover-up. It’s all about how you style it.”
