STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Take It And Run

Do you ever want to pull of a look, but you’re too afraid to try it? Well, it’s time to put your worries aside. Choose a look and run with it. We aren’t amateurs anymore. It’s time to turn up your style to its maximum volume; let it resonate with others.

Take a look at this Fashionista—she rocks her urban look with confidence. Without a doubt, she makes a statement, letting her fashion speak for itself. She didn’t wake up one day and nervously say to herself, “Hmm…I don’t know if I should wear this.” No way! She was ready to turn heads on campus, and trust me, she did.

Although it sometimes seems like it, having confidence really isn’t the most difficult task in the world. I mean, think about it. This Fashionista’s outfit only incorporates three colors: gray, black and white. You don’t need to whip out a brightly colored dress and a pair stilettos to feel confident. Believe or not, even a pair of joggers will do the trick. It’s all about how you present yourself. All you need is confidence and a smile—and maybe a rad pair of sneakers, too.

I love the way this Fashionista sports her tomboy look. There’s a bit of a hip-hop vibe going on, which is super unique and refreshing. It’s clear she wasn’t going for the everyday prep look. She sported a muscle tee and a faux leather sweatshirt jacket to show her tough girl side. Did you hear that, boys? She isn’t playing any of your games. Her flannel is an awesome layering piece; it ties in with her outfit’s color scheme, but its bold pattern keeps things dynamic. She topped off this killer look with a pair of Vans high-tops and a black camper hat. This isn’t your typical campus look, and that’s what makes it so bold. Watch out, friends. We’ve got a stone cold stunner up in here. Somebody get a doctor because her swag is off the charts. Okay, okay, I’m sorry about the dad jokes. It won’t happen again.

But the moral of the story is that you need to feel confident in what you wear. Choose one style and run with it. You aren’t buying it? Well, as cliché as it sounds, you’ve just gotta fake it till you make it. I know you can do it, my fellow Fashionistas/os. As the oh-so-wise Hannah Montana once said, “Nobody’s perfect; I’ve gotta work it.”

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “If there comes a day that you want to rock a specific style, stick with it. Keep your look consistent.”
