STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Sweet Subtlety

Happy Wednesday, Fashionistas/os! Can you believe it’s already June? The warm weather days are finally here, but if you’re an early riser like me, you’ll find that it’s too chilly to be outside in purely short sleeves. Are you prepared for the best of both worlds (cold mornings, warm afternoons) with layered clothes? I hope so!

Like the transition from May into June, this Fashionisto creates a sweet, subtle look in the astute combination of his clothes. His gray J.Crew sweater is worn on the outside, with a Club Monaco floral button-down flashing from underneath. This outfit is a beautiful blending of two seasons; the mostly neutral, solid colors represent a fading out of gray skies into sunnier, happier blue skies, with a slight pop of white florals.

The Fashionisto’s style is a modern take on men’s wear; his top is inspired by men’s wear, while the Naked & Famous bottoms are inspired by streetwear. This trendy, slim-fitting aesthetic was made popular by Thom Browne, a popular fashion-forward men’s wear designer whose influence is still seen in Club Monaco’s pieces today. The bottom is also inspired by Kanye West, who “stacks” his jeans as well. This Fashionisto’s leather strapped Movado watch gives a clean and classy final touch to his look, which successfully creates a sophisticated presence.
