STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Spring Layers

March 18th, 2015 at 2:00am

There’s no denying that layers have been a huge hit throughout fall and winter. So why should the trend have to stop with the change of seasons? Layering is all about adding that third-piece to bring the whole outfit a sense of togetherness which can be easily translated into your spring attire.

As the weather gets a little warmer and the seasons change we tend to leave winter trends behind and focus on the new spring must-haves. However, there’s one trend in particular that you definitely should not let die out; spring layers! The weather in March isn’t cold but it sure isn’t hot either so we can’t exactly jump straight from heavy overcoats to strappy sundresses just like that. That’s when layering becomes your best friend!

Layering is meant to elevate your style, not complicate it and when done correctly can really add depth to your outfit. This Fashionista pulls off the perfect spring layered look with a little bohemian flare. She wears a handkerchief hemmed dress, an off-the-shoulder chunky sweater and stone colored booties which she accessorizes with multicolored beaded bracelets and silver rings. Pairing a dress with an oversized sweater is ideal for springtime weather because the weather can vary 20 or 30 degrees throughout the day so having a little something to cover you up on your way to class or work is nice. The off-the-shoulder look gives the outfit a little bit of sexiness and the flowy silhouette keeps the ensemble casual and light.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Chunky sweaters are my favorite go-to. They look great with a pair of jeans or leggings during the winter and in the spring they’re the perfect layering piece!”
