STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Sliding into Style

Trends….we all are aware of the love hate relationship we have with them.

There like the bad boys from those sappy high school drama TV shows who are so irresistible, yet unpredictable at the same time. You know that whoever ends up falling in love with the bad boy is going to have to pick up their broken heart off the back his motorcycle.

I used to believe that trends, like some relationships, have an expiration date. However, l’ve begun to see a different side, a different life to those pieces in our closet we so willingly call trendy.

It might be true that eventually, a majority of us fashion-conscious people will begin to shy away from wearing our shoulder-exposing tops and our palazzo trousers and find interest in some new trend. However, that doesn’t mean they have to be tucked away into the depths of our closets. They should make a sporadic appearance within our outfit selection every so often. Not just when they’re trendy again! Such an idea as this will make your wardrobe seem so much larger than you thought it originally was!

This Fashionista and I talked at length about how even though she was covered in a well executed head-to-toe trendy outfit, she would incorporate these piece into her future wardrobe, even after everyone else stopped wearing them.

Out of the, what seemed endless, pieces to focus on in this piece, I decided that her mules, and mules in general, deserved a shoutout. When was the last time fashion was as seemingly practical as sliding (yes, actual foot sliding, no more laces or complicated straps) your feet into a pair of shoes that were both acceptable to wear to the office and also stylish.

It’s no question the reason why mules, the pretty stepsister of clogs, are being added to your online shopping cart. It’s because fashion has never seemed so easy.
