STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Shortsighted

Living in Chicago, one will brace herself every morning for the never-ending chill of cool wind in the mornings. Then, like a light switch, everything changes. She wanders outside to find that the harsh wind has been swapped with immense heat and her first concern is, “Now what will I wear?” She, being an avid Fashionista, wants to stay stylish but would rather avoid a heat stroke. This is where the wonderful invention of skorts becomes relevant.

I for one am incredibly excited that skorts, the combination of skirts and shorts, are making a #rad comeback. The reason I believe they will be seen around Chicago is their ability to look effortlessly chic. Instead of always wearing a sundress or maxi dress (don’t get me wrong, I love them both), one can look completely put together by simply slipping a skort on! Not to mention, skorts are way more wind-friendly as opposed to flowy dresses (amirite ladies?!).

This Fashionista’s style caught my eye because of its unbelievable versatility. Although she was incorporating her skort to create a casual look for class, she could easily lose the cardigan and add strappy wedges for a night downtown! Personally, I believe skorts will be found everywhere because they are one way for women to be able to look ready to hit the town but not be overheating while doing it. One can also rock skorts at ANY occasion. Going to a concert? Yes. Brunch with your girlfriends? Absolutely. Will you see me rocking this trend this summer? Definitely.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Mixing styles, such as preppy and grunge, is a tip to avoid going overboard one way or another. I felt this look had a lot of dimension coming from the bold mix of chunky ‘90s-inspired clogs, a clean-cut skort and breezy cardigan. There are a lot of things that get your attention, but they all blend effortlessly.”
