STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Rocking The Denim Blues

July 22nd, 2015 at 2:00am

When you think of the word denim, blue jeans comes to mind. But even though the word connotes jeans, it can be defined as denim shirts, skirts, shorts and denim jackets. This stylish Fashionista is sporting the jacket in the cutest way possible. Her black short sleeve shirt and lavender shorts make this look preppy, but by adding the jacket it gives it more flair and personality. Her look really stands out with the light wash of the jacket too.

This trend started in 1873, when the first pair of denim jeans was created. It gained popularity with the Woodstock and hippie era of the 1960s. Men and women wore long hair with denim head to toe. A lot has changed now, but denim still remains a necessary piece of clothing to have in your closet. It has a cleaner and fresher look that everyone loves. This look can be easily dressed by adding a necklace, scarf or belt.

This Fashionista is wearing a long two-diamond necklace to make the jacket reflect off the hot sun in the summer. Her lavender shorts spruces up the look by displaying a happy feel to the outfit too. She is wearing Sam Edelman brown sandals that are simple enough not to distract from the denim jacket. This staple piece of clothing will continue to be a trend for future looks because you can pair it with anything or alone.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “With this denim jacket you can accessorize it simply by adding a pin or button to complete your sophisticated look.”

I am currently a student at St. Norbert College, studying Communication with a Media Concentration. Even though I go to a school in Wisconsin or what I like to call it the “Cheese State”, Illinois will always stay close to my heart because that is where I was born and raised as a kid. I enjoy taking vacations with my family and going to concerts with my friends. I like anything that is the color pink and one of my favorite places to shop at is J.Crew. I would describe my style as girly, preppy, comfortable and fun. I look forward to another fun summer as a Style Guru at CollegeFashionista. Here's to a rad summer, Molly
