STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Put Your Best Fringe Forward

In February, Vogue published an article in which they said, “fringe was far and away one of the bigger hits from the spring 2015 runways, taking on a Josephine Baker look in a slinky metallic flapper-style dress at Proenza Schouler or a bohemian rhapsody of flared pants and jackets at Emilio Pucci.” This is a retro trend that has not been seen for a while, but it is the perfect touch to make an outfit stand out in the most unexpected ways. Walking through the streets of London I have seen fringe sewn on everything from heels to leather coats. It allows you to create an outfit with a modern silhouette while adding some movement and excitement with just a little fabric anywhere you want.

Today’s Fashionista sports a fringe undershirt over a simple cropped sweater. The extra layer makes her outfit unique to her. On top of her sweater she sports a light cape. This also adds movement to her look in a unique way. To balance out the look she added black jeans and sandals for a cool summer day.

Overall, this look shows her personality as a Fashionista while rocking a trend that has been featured all over the runways this spring. Although she rocks a few current trends, fringe is a stand out look and will always capture people’s eye with its distinctive, fashionable look.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “My advice would be to pair fringe with things that are more current or sleek so that it has an updated look. This way it doesn’t look too retro or costume.”
