STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Plaid is Rad

Winter flurries have hit the campus of Ohio State University harder than the storm Elsa cast upon the city of Arendelle (yay for Frozen references). Everyone reacts and dresses differently in response to the harsh seasonal changes. The everyday challenge of somehow dressing warm, but looking cute is always prevalent. However, as I was marching through the snow on my way to class today, I spotted this particular Fashionista as a result of her unique outerwear piece. In a sea of black parkas, her plaid, hooded and very cozy (or so I’m told) bomber jacket caught my eye. Plaid patterned pieces are always a huge trend for the winter season and this year is no exception.

This Fashionsta describes her style as “comfortable, slightly grunge, yet cute”. Her vintage bomber jacket is definitely the statement item of the outfit. Patterned pieces are sometimes hard to use as staples in your wardrobe, however, the bold pattern and unique style of this jacket make it truly stand out. She stays warm and cute by keeping the rest of her pieces neutral. Her knit oatmeal American Eagle Outfitters sweater and matching cabin socks keep the cozy, cute vibe going. Her black Sperry Top-Siders boots are a slightly edgier take on the very trendy bean boot. They are very stylish, yet still manage to keep her toes nice and toasty. She also swears by her Athleta leggings, which are definitely a college essential. Overall, this Fashionista has put together a low maintenance, cozy, yet trendy ensemble for this snow day’s classes.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Comfortable pieces are my favorite to wear. I really like cool outerwear pieces. I would definitely recommend investing in a practical, yet unique coat. Create your outfits around this staple. You’ll stay warm, yet still have freedom to customize and have fun with your outfit for the day.”
