STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Peacoat Perfection

It may be the beginning of March, and daylight savings has now ended, but here in Western New York, the cold and snow have not given any indication of warm days to come. Therefore, it is helpful to invest in a stylish coat to perfectly complement all of your outfits. Peacoats make any outfit classier and more put together. This week’s Fashionisto knew how to make a peacoat both functional and fashionable.

He began with a light brown sweater to keep him warm, which he paired with some straight leg jeans. I loved his dark brown, lace-up boots, which have convenient zippers on the sides. They are perfect for trekking through the slush that is currently covering the sidewalks. To add more warmth, this Fashionisto chose a black, double-breasted peacoat. It is slightly oversized, which means that he can fit lots of layers underneath. The coat dresses up an otherwise casual winter outfit; because it is in a neutral, it can be paired with any ensemble. For accessories, he chose a cross necklace and a few rings for some subtle detail.

Wearing a coat doesn’t have to be a bummer. Sure, it hides whatever chic outfit you put together that morning, but a peacoat can help enhance that outfit rather than smother it. Pair it with a simple jeans-and-sweater combination for class as this Fashionisto did, or dress it up with some khaki or corduroy pants and a button-up for a day of interning or presenting.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Don’t be afraid of dressing different. Your outward appearance should reflect however you feel within. Wear something because you like it, not because it’s what’s expected of you.”
