STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: One Bandana, Two Bandanas

STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: One Bandana, Two Bandanas

Every ‘90s kid would recall the bandana trend. From Christina Aguilera to Tupac, bandanas were an accessory that everyone had to have. The skullcap was a popular grunge look that many would rock as it was an easy way to tame one’s hair. A topknot on the other hand looked ridiculously cute with summer dresses because of the bohemian vibe it gave off. Fast-forward to 2015 and fashion week attendees are spotted donning bandanas around their neck and even as a printed jacket. As my fashion teachers would say, trends come and go in a complete circle; what was once in shall return again. If you search for bandana products on Forever 21’s site, you will see bandana printed T-shirts, shorts, socks and caps. That, ladies and gentlemen, is the beauty of fast fashion.

After reading that Style.com article, I was pleasantly surprised to spot this Fashionisto rocking the exact same look. It is amazing how such a little accent can change up his entire look to a whole new level. It definitely added an interesting factor that is meant to draw your eyes in accordance to a downward flow, which artists use to ensure that the bigger picture is viewed in every aspect.

Underneath his blazer, he has on suspenders, which is unusually paired with jeans, yet it works incredibly well. How his blazer is casually rolled up to expose his long sleeve T-shirt underneath adds a casual factor for everyday wear. Blazers are always a nice touch when one needs to amp up a look, as this Fashionisto has demonstrated so well. Imagine swapping the blazer with a military jacket—the effect is the complete opposite. Little details such as outerwear can change an entire look drastically.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I think the bandana adds extra depth to the outfit. It’s practical too, as sometimes I’ll wear it on my head to keep my hair up when i’m working in the studio.”
