STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Off-The-Shoulder Obsession

Summer is here, school is out and our days are spent in the sun by a body of water (or our daydreams are at least)! With this intense heat paired with newly tanned skin, one of the major summer trends for 2016 is off-the-shoulder tops and dresses. ELLE magazine, Glamour and Vogue have all jumped on the bandwagon and have published articles obsessing over this runway trend.

While off-the-shoulder tops saturated the catwalks, you don’t have to spend the big bucks to rock this trend. H&M, Forever 21, American Eagle Outfitters and many more mall stores are taking notes from the runway and incorporating this trend into their summer collections. From prints to solids, flowy or tight, this trend is easy to incorporate regardless of your personal style. The best part is that they are an easy and flirty way to show some skin and accent your décolletage, while still being modest and leaving something for the imagination. Whether you decide to grab a top or a dress, you do not want to miss out on this effortless addition to your summer wardrobe.

This Fashionista opted for a dress version of our trend in a light blue seersucker fabric from H&M. It is light and airy making it perfect for many occasions throughout the following warmer months. To ensure the dress was the focus of the outfit, she kept her color scheme neutral with gold and brown accessories. Her woven bucket bag is another summer essential that can double as a beach or pool bag. To keep her preppy vibe alive, she added a monogram necklace that fell perfectly above the neckline of her dress. Finally, her shoes are modest wedge sandals that are perfect for showing off a new pedicure, while also being comfortable enough to wear all day.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK?  “Love at first sight can best be described as my experience every time I put on a new off-the-shoulder top or dress. This style isn’t new or groundbreaking, by any means, but for every obvious reason, it is making its mark this spring and summer. It’s fun and flirty, and it’s hanging in the windows of every storefront. The secret behind the look is all about how good everyone looks in it, and how versatile it is. This look can be dressed up or down, worn daytime or nighttime and doubles as being flirty without being too suggestive. I can’t stress enough how essential this piece is for every girl’s closet!”
