STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: More Maxi, Please

In the past few years, maxi dresses and skirts have been all the rage. They have been seen anywhere from on the runway to running errands at the grocery store. Since these garments are long, you may think of them only for colder weather events, however, maxi dresses don’t have to stop for the summer.

There are thousands of ways to work these awesome dresses. For the spring and summer, designers create sheer and thin fabrics for maxis to be worn in warmer weather. Also, they can be worn to just about anything. My personal favorite ways to wear maxis are boho-inspired at a musical festival or concert, fancy for a formal or casual for class. They are also super easy to style; for example, adding a vest or long necklaces make an outfit look even more elegant and fun, or keeping it simple with just a cotton maxi dress and sandals.

This Fashionista truly encapsulates the popular maxi dress trend. She went above and beyond by adding gold necklaces, a black hat and a black structured bag to her look. Her maxi dress is a sheer material with thin straps and has a fun pattern. She looks so cute and is able to feel comfortable for a long day of classes on campus. That’s right—comfortable. That’s one secret us Fashionistas don’t tell the world, maxi dresses are extremely comfortable and easy to wear. Who wouldn’t want to wear a maxi everyday to class?
