STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Monochromatic With A Twist

February 17th, 2015 at 2:00am

With Houston’s bipolar weather, it can be hard to dress for the weather. However, instead of trying to pick out certain colors and match accordingly, this Fashionista challenged herself by sticking to one color.

Monochromatic outfits have taken off and emerged as a huge trend within runway shows and red carpets. Pairing similar colors together is a simple way to create an effortless look. Taking this into account, this Fashionista looked flawless in her all-black outfit and further enhanced her look by adding her own personal twist. I loved her use of the black peacoat to cover the simple top and leggings. Topping off the outfit with a black clutch and boots kept the ensemble well rounded. Incorporating her personal style by adding some funky socks was a genius move. This showed off her quirky, fun personality.

The cooler months are a great time to experiment and take advantage of the monochromatic trend. Darker hues are very popular and easy to look put together in. If you’re not comfortable with such a dark look, you can balance it out with a colorful accessory, like this Fashionista included with her socks. Neutral colors such as cream and beige can offset the darker colors as well to result in a simple complete look.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK?  “Going monochromatic will match with anything and is such an easy look that it will leave you feeling chic and stylish with half the effort! Take advantage of the dark base and add your personal style to make your outfit pop.”
