STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Mix And Match Prints

This summer the weather has been pretty wacky, making it similar to some people’s preconceived ideas that it’s crazy to mix prints and patterns. However, this Fashionista wasn’t afraid to take her look to the next level by adding pops with prints and mixing patterns as well. Adding a printed item or accessory to the look can really take it to the next level, and if you mix prints in the right way within a look, you can add so much interest.

This Fashionista was spotted wearing a cotton tunic top with some rolled up jeans. First off, this look screams comfort and versatility. She took something very simple and brought it up a notch by adding these patterned elements. Then she added bright blue cheetah sneakers that were not only fun, but totally on trend. Sneakers are all the rage now and are comfortable as well as stylish. Personally, I adore a good pair of sneakers. Next, she paired a large oversized bag, which is perfect for carrying all those schoolbooks around, in a blue and white striped pattern. This Fashionista definitely kept her look cool and to the point, but added a playful touch with the sneakers.

Although cheetah and stripes are two completely different patterns, they do coordinate. She kept the colors in the same palette, making sure that it didn’t get too over-the-top with completely different patterns and a different color palette. That’s the key to mixing prints and patterns. If you want to do so, keep the look simplistic, keep the focus on the patterns, and be sure that you keep them within the same color palette so it isn’t overwhelming. Fashion is all about taking risks and exploring things that you would have never thought to try before.
