STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Maxin’ Out

When summer time comes around, we all pull out our collection of shorts and mini skirts to not only show off our legs, but to keep us cool in the heat. This summer, fashion has taken a turn and decided to go a little bit longer on the legs. Maxi skirts have become a major trend this summer as they come in all colors, patterns and cuts. The longer the hotter you may think, but maxi skirts have a lightweight feel that keep you cool all day.

When thinking of this trend, I like to head towards aztec or tribal style prints on these skirts. Often times I look towards traditional African influences on how to coordinate the outfit. The tribal patterns bring a different element to the overall outfit, as they piece together the length of the skirt but also can tie in any length top.

So how might you advance your wardrobe with a unique maxi skirt? Check out this Fashionista’s outfit for inspiration. Above you can see that she actually combined two of our favorite trends, crop tops and maxi skirts, together! The tribal print along the front of her top and bottom of her skirt allowed her to only wear minimal jewelry and natural makeup. Her skirt was lightweight, which allowed her to move and twirl even in the summer heat. Lastly, she finished off this outfit with a pair of strappy sandals, Kendra Scott earrings and a sweep of cheek highlight for some extra glow.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Keep it light when it comes to maxi skirts this summer. When choosing you next maxi skirt look for a light material that also has some flare to it, so that you stay cool and fashionable in the summer!”
