Now that summer is in full swing, we expect the weather to be hot all the time. However, when living in Wisconsin, you learn that this is definitely not the case. The temperature can be 80 degrees one day and then drop to 60 degrees the next! Nevertheless, we all want to continue to dress like it’s summer even when it might not feel that way. Maxi dresses are the perfect summer go-to when temperatures fluctuate because they provide warmth without having to sacrifice any summer vibes.

This Fashionista decided to keep things simple with a plain black maxi dress. Starting with a blank canvas like her dress allows you to play up the accessories and add pieces in order to create a look that is your own. Black maxi dresses can easily be dressed up or down depending on your style and occasion. In this instance, this Fashionista went for a casual-chic look. She added a statement necklace, jean jacket and wedge sandals to the dress which created a summer look in a cute, casual way. The bling from the necklace is balanced by the casualness of the denim and makes her look effortlessly cool, while the two-toned wedges create some spunk and contrast.

This outfit is perfect for inconsistent temperatures because you can layer up with a jacket of your choice, or take layers off and just sport the dress for some flowy summer fun.
