STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Make a Color Statement

September 21st, 2016 at 2:00am

Finding the perfect outfit to stand out on a college campus can be almost exhausting. However, standing out does not always mean wearing the brightest colors, craziest patterns or the funkiest jewelry. With hundreds and maybe thousands of students on campus, how does one manage to stand out then?

The key is to wear one color from head to toe. That’s right, a monochromatic look is the answer to your problem! Monochromatic, in terms of fashion, means wearing separate pieces that are the same or similar color. Monochromatic looks are always chic, polished and trendy.

This Fashionista, Briahna, did just that with this look. She paired a light blue off-the-shoulder top with high-waisted, form fitting light wash denim together for this effortlessly chic look. Her lace-up brown sandals compliment the look wonderfully by adding some chilled boho vibes.

My advice to you this week is to be the visual relief on campus and try a monochromatic look. Remember to include at least one of your favorite trends, mix textures and materials to stand out of the crowd. Do not limit yourself to an all black or white look either. Try stepping out of the box and going with a primary color like red, yellow or blue if you are bold enough! Also, incorporate trends like an off-the-shoulder top and lace up sandals, or maybe heeled booties and trench coats for the fall. Both are definitely excellent ways to complete the look.

This Fashionista is ready for anything: class, tailgating or even a night out. Now, you will be too. And if anyone tries to tell you wearing one color is boring, you have an arsenal of knowledge as to why it’s not!
