STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Light Layering

In Seattle, people have mastered effortless layering. With spring right around the corner, the temperature is rising, yet rain is still inevitable. Believe me; what you hear about the rainfall in Seattle is true—it rains a lot. Layering is not only functional because it serves as a way to appropriately dress in between seasons, but it also makes your look unique.

This Fashionista has mastered light layering, and the outfit is perfect for transitioning into spring. The long, striped Free People tunic has an open front, which exposes an extra layer of a lace tank top underneath. Free People is great because they offer a wide selection of pieces to layer and make your own, creating comfortable yet confident looks. The tunic is a simple but fashionable way to be stylish on and off campus.

She paired the tunic with staple black jeans and black ankle booties. When layering, it is important to have basic pieces to act as a neutral base in the outfit. To accessorize, she paired delicate rings and a silver necklace, which add to the effortless look of the outfit. To top it off, no pun intended, she added a simple black beanie. Beanies are a great way to add warmth and prevent a bad hair day, though she clearly is not having a day like that. Her perfectly tousled waves paired with the beanie make the overall ensemble simply chic.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Anything from the Free People sale section is a justifiable purchase. I like to find pieces that I can mix and match to create different looks. Some days I feel super hipster, and other days I feel fashionable and girly, so having pieces that work with all different looks is crucial.”
