STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Lace It Up

Lace has the ability to convey myriad meanings in regards to its purpose and wearer, merely based on its color. White lace symbolizes purity and is typically worn by children for christenings and by brides on their wedding day. Black lace can either symbolize death, as black veils have been worn at funerals, or it can represent sexiness but in a sophisticated manner.

Lace can also add a touch of delicateness to any ensemble, no matter the color. I’m sure we can all remember and shudder at the thought of being forced to wear lace trimmed dresses and socks for those occasions when we were expected to look like prim and proper little ladies. Thankfully, lace dresses aren’t quite as frilly and gaudy these days.

Lace is one of the biggest trends for spring/summer 2015 and was spotted during many of the season’s fashion shows in intricate patterns and colorful designs. Lace clothing items have been popping up in all of our favorite boutiques and shops, like this blouse and short set from Topshop or this lace kimono from Forever 21.

This Fashionista’s pale pink lace and chiffon dress is the personification of everything lovely and sweet. Her white eyelet sneakers from Payless Shoes Source further sweetens her look and are super trendy as well. Not only is this Fashionista totally on trend, she also exhibits the delicate details of her outfit in a way that isn’t over the top.
