STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Keep it Simple

With classes officially in full swing, students’ lives have started to get pretty hectic. Between days full of lectures and nights at the library, there’s barely enough time to eat let alone put thought into an outfit. In addition, Tulane students must face the constant obstacle of late summer heat with temperatures averaging in the high 80’s. Staying cool is a must with the New Orleans nonstop humidity, and my solution is to keep it simple.

With the monochromatic trend on the rise, you no longer have to feel guilty about buying the same color clothing every time you shop. This Fashionista is rocking a blue/gray smocked crop top from Aritzia that is perfectly light and stretchy. She paired it with light blue flowy pants that come up just high enough to show a little bit of skin. By keeping her outfit in the same color family, she has created a clean and smooth look.

A cool pair of sneakers is an absolute must for any college wardrobe. These black and white canvas lace ups by Vans are sure to go with whatever plain or neutral pieces are sitting in your closet. Although they are printed shoes, they are still understated and casual enough to maintain a simple appearance.

This effortlessly cool ensemble is finished off with a plain black baseball cap and a low bun. Hat’s are a great way to gain an extra 30 minutes of sleep in the morning that would have been spent styling your hair. After putting on a few delicate pieces of jewelry, this Fashionista is ready to take on the day in style!

Always remember, less is more.
