STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Keep It Simple

Sometimes it’s best to keep an outfit simple. Though there are hundreds of trends out there that everyone is eagerly waiting to wear on his/her campus runway, the outfits that sometimes shine the most are those composed of simple, sleek basics.

That’s exactly what I loved about this chic Fashionista, who paired a classic white T-shirt with a cozy, light pink cardigan and a pair of dark wash skinny jeans. Everyone has these pieces (or a variation of them) in their closets, and the best thing is that there are endless combinations of looks one can put together with these three wardrobe staples.

This Fashionista chose to top her look off with a ‘60s style blue wool coat. The coat is looser than the top and the cardigan, creating a nice contrast of the fit/shape on the top half of her ensemble. The softer colors—white and light pink—are also balanced out by the darker hue of the coat, which works well with the dark wash of the jeans and the black flatform slip-ons.

Overall, this Fashionista took a simple approach when piecing together her outfit for the day, and it worked wonders. She looks equally comfortable as she does cozy, and this outfit can be taken from day to night in a matter of minutes. Investing in a pair of staple clothing pieces, like this Fashionista, is key. The versatility of each item will ensure you make excellent use of it, eliminating the, “I wore this once, but I don’t want to wear it again,” struggle we have all dealt with when it comes to our more fashion-forward pieces.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I like to keep things simple some days. It’s good to switch off between looks, and I find myself wearing this white shirt more often than I actually realize. It’s great for both casual and fancy outfits.”
