STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Hungry for Snickers

Now here’s a trend we should all get behind: tennis shoes with everything. It’s happening at this very moment, in all its cool and comfortable glory. From Nike to Converse, the sneakers empire is settling for good.

Has any garment enjoyed a more impressive rise than the once-humble sneaker? The once unstylish sneaker has undergone a fashion trial and has won. The distinction between dressy and athletic shoes is on the verge of collapse for fashion-forward women, as the humble gym shoe has outgrown its urban culture/streetwear origins to become a fashion accessory, as well as a staple on runways, red carpets and in the workplace.

Clearly the new sneaker is seen as light and nimble, not clunky or clumsy. We all know that’s true whether you’re clocking in miles on the treadmill or on the street. So say goodbye to your uncomfortable heels and hello to you new glam shoe.

So how can you style your sneakers? This Fashionista went for a very casual and chic look. She paired her formal pencil skirt with an offhand gray T-shirt to create balance between both. Her denim jacket brings roughness and unity to the whole look as well as her sparkly necklace and colorful purse. But the stand out element of this awesome outfit is definitely her sneakers that bring an edge and tone to her overall look. Who said pencil skirts and sneakers couldn’t be friends?

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK?: “Some cool sneakers can work equally well with a dress or jeans, and since they’re ridiculously comfortable, you can make it through a full day on your feet. They are great for any occasion, you just have to be very clever with your outfit process.”
