Who says fashion has to be uncomfortable? It is the answer we are all looking for. Since when did dressing cute mean being uncomfortable!? This Fashionista seems to know how to be comfortable and slightly grunge/casually cute during yet another Chicago blizzard. How does she do it you may ask? Well the answer is basic(s). Basic, solid colored pieces allow for an understated minimalist look. This Fashionista pairs a long sleeved loose tunic over plain black yoga leggings (a woman after my own heart). The oversized tunic and jacket are key to her effortless grunge look and are easy to pair with any bottom.
The black yoga leggings are a staple in my own wardrobe because they go with anything! From a casual outfit with oversized top like seen here, to a gym outfit to under a dress when it’s cold (like every day here in Chicago) they are one of the most versatile and generally comfortable pieces of clothing in anyone’s wardrobe.
This Fashionista liked to add a touch of plaid in a neutral tone in her blanket scarf which can be used to style over a coat or wrapped around one’s neck when the library gets chilly. This Fashionista topped off her look with a pair of simple black sneakers. The updated look of her shoes both contrasted and complemented the ’90s look of other elements of her outfit. Her shoes add to the overall casual vibe of her outfit, which could be changed by slipping into a ankle bootie or wedge. This Fashionista noted that she wore a clip in her hair because it added to the ’90s grunge look that she rocks most often.
What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “My main objective for this outfit was to be comfortable and confident at the same time. This look is one of my go-to’s so I know when I wear it I feel good. I’m actually on my way to study now and this outfit will allow me to sit for a few hours and not have to worry about wrinkling. So I’d have to say comfort is key.”
