STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Go With the Flow

Maybe it’s just me, but the vibes of summertime relax not only my mind, but my sense of style, as well. During the winter season, I was all about wearing tight skinny jeans, black-on-black, leather, faux fur, chunky jewelry or some clunky heels. However, now that it’s officially summer, I want everything to be loose-fitting and flowy. Lately I’ve been gravitating toward wearing white and light earthy tones. If you’re feeling the same way, you’re in luck! Flowy dresses and rompers are huge trends this summer season. Everywhere I look I’m seeing shift, smock, T-shirt, trapeze and babydoll dresses and loose-fitting maxi and midi dresses. Everything is flowy. Spotting a casual bodycon (let’s be honest, we’re still going to be wearing tight dresses out at night) in stores will likely be a rarity! I love this trend because not only am I obsessed with the boho look, but flowy dresses are probably the most comfortable articles of the clothing ever, and they are also super flattering on the body.

This Fashionista seemed to be on the same wavelength because her outfit is the epitome of summertime boho! Her dress is right on-trend because it’s flowy (let’s count how many times Raven can say flowy in this post) and it’s in a light colored floral print. However, she made the trend her own by putting a spin on the oh-so-popular flowy dress. Hers has a bit of a high-low hemline, which I’m usually not a fan of since it was so overbearingly popular a few years ago, but hers is just subtle enough and the ruffle at the bottom really adds to the flowy effect. This dress is very ’70s-inspired to me and I absolutely love it. Unfortunately for us, this Fashionista’s dress is thrifted (aren’t all the good pieces thrifted?), but you can find a similar one here.

To add to the look, she paired the dress with a long, cream-colored vest. The knit material of the vest and the fringe at the bottom make the outfit much more cohesive and all the more hippie-inspired. She’s also wearing some simple sunglasses, nothing on her feet and a headband that perfectly complements her cute Miley buns. In addition, she’s not wearing any jewelry, which I think is a statement in itself and adds to this free-spirited look.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Just be yourself. Wear what you want to wear, what you think is cute and what you think looks best on you. It will translate into such a unique personal style.”
