STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Go With The Flow

This summer is all about flowy, billowy, loose-fitting pants. Whether they’re wide leg, printed, cropped or linen, pants have established their unique position as a summer staple. These pants can be casual or dressy, work-appropriate or perfect for the weekend and combine with sandals, flats, wedges and even heels.

This Fashionista incorporated her breezy pants into a comfortable, Sunday shopping outfit. She knotted her gray T-shirt to create a crop top that meets the top of her pants. To accessorize, she layered a homemade beaded arrowhead necklace on top of her simple, everyday gold pendant necklace. For a day of walking, this Fashionista chose strappy, snakeskin sandals sticking with the neutrals of her outfit while adding a print. These pants can easily transition into a night out with a pair of wedges or heels, a dressy crop top and big bold earrings.

There are many other types of oversized pants trending for summer and they cover all occasions. My favorite are coulettes, the modern, more forgiving version of the early 2000s trend of gauchos. Another popular look is chiffon, flowy pants. These are nice for warm weather because the fabric is extremely light and loose. Printed versions of all of these styles are taking over work and weekend wear.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “The thing I love so much about these pants is their versatility. I wear them all the time both on the street and out at night. And, since I bought them in a neutral color they match so many tops. I think a good pair of flowy, linen pants is a great summer investment.”
