STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Florals 101

If there is one thing I know for sure, it’s that florals will never go out of style. If history is any indication of the print’s popularity, then I think all floral lovers (me!) are safe to wear them as much as possible. From the very conservative floral ball gowns that people wore in the 18th century to Kim Kardashian’s floor length ball gown at the 2015 Met Gala, florals have been, and will probably always be, the apple of fashion’s eye.

When I saw this Fashionista’s outfit, I knew I wanted it, especially her floral chiffon kimono. What really drew me to her outfit were the pink roses on the kimono, for they happen to be my favorite flower. The roses are printed on the kimono in such a way that they do not become an eye sore or too overwhelming. The florals in the kimono bring a little bit of color, class and femininity to an otherwise all-black outfit. With it being the summer time, adding this super lightweight kimono was the perfect choice for this Fashionista! It kept her cool during the day as well as brought some summertime flowers and colors into the outfit.

The rest of this Fashionista’s outfit consisted of all black! She paired the kimono with a simple black spaghetti strap dress and a pair of must-have strappy black sandals. This Fashionista was smart in keeping the rest of her outfit simple and neutral. She didn’t overindulge in the trend, and it allowed the kimono to take center stage. She finished off the look with some one-of-a-kind necklaces and earrings.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I usually wear a lot of neutral colors, but adding that pop of pattern and color really helps the outfit stand out. I try to incorporate at least one colored or patterned piece into my outfits every day, and this floral kimono was perfect.”
