STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Floral And Floppy

Most people think that floral is something that should be reserved for the middle of spring, and even though Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow signaling the end of the winter season, the temperature still feels a few degrees too cold for us. However, this Fashionista thinks that floral works for anytime as long as the colors fit with the season. Focusing on maroons, neutrals and olive greens, the colors in the scarf bring out the color of the Fashionista’s lipstick and her floppy hat.

With the hopes of warmer weather this outfit is very much a transitional one. The multiple layers allow for the ability to stay warm for morning classes, remove a layer for when the sun decides to warm the earth in the afternoon, and then to add they layers back on as needed in the evening. Many people don’t realize that it’s the little pieces of an outfit that make it come together. From the trim on the hat, to the pendant necklace around the neck, this outfit is built on accessories, especially with the neutral tone in the dress, jacket and booties.

The floppy hat trend is one that many people think is hard to pull off but I’ve found that really anyone can rock one. You may just not be choosing the right hat for your face shape. If your face is more round opt for a more structured on the top hat while if your face is more oval or long opt for a more rounded one. The key is to experiment with the shapes until you are happy and confident with the results.
