STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Fall Coats

November 15th, 2016 at 2:00am

In Columbus, Ohio, the Buckeyes don’t have any idea whether tank top weather is continuing or if a snow storm is about to hit. I guess we’ll have to say thanks to global climate change.

This is where layering reaches its peak necessity. At 30 degrees in the morning and 70 degrees by 2 p.m., you’re going to need that coat and tank combo. A chunky peacoat gives a sense of balance in this outfit, providing bulk where its lost in the crop top. This light grey coat is super daytime friendly, while also easily dressed up or down. Accessories  can always make or break an outfit, and I’d suggest stacking every delicate necklace and bracelet you own to jazz up patternless pieces.

Fall is the perfect time to get use out of destroyed jeans, bringing a harmony between skin, coverage and style. I don’t know who made it fashionable to leave the house looking like your clothing got run over by a lawnmower, but I’m here for it and hope it continues well into next season.

Girls who wear cool shoes usually have a good outlook on life. It’s scientifically proven. Basketball star Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is graced with the honor of putting adidas on the map circa 1970. If that name has no meaning to you, look him up, seriously. Adidas has been on a whirl-wind of re-imaging their company the past few years, with products being the must-have pieces of street style connoisseurs and sneakerheads alike. There is no better way to stand out than taking the classic shell top and customizing with color accents.

The mid-semester slump can leave even the most motivated Fashionistas uninspired. Keep grinding out those midterm papers and powering through late night study sessions—and don’t forget to take a deep breath.
