STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Do Or Dye

The ’70s are knocking and they want back in your closet. Tie-dye is making its mark this summer as the flirtiest and most fun summer staple. The print can be found in tops, rompers, dresses and bottoms, making the possibilities endless in incorporating tie-dye into your summer wardrobe.

I, like most people, would like to avoid looking like a member of a coordinated group of fourth graders wearing matching tie-dye shirts on a field trip. Tie-dye can be tricky to style at first, but with a few tips you’ll be rocking this new trend in no time!

This Fashionista opted for flouncy tie-dye shorts with magenta, royal blue and crisp white coloring. The style of the tie-dye print in the shorts is imperative to the outfit. The bold colors and unusual pattern of the tie-dye make the shorts fresh, organic and stylish. No tie-dye piece is exactly the same, so take the time to pick your favorite pattern and color combination. This Fashionista made the shorts dressy by pairing them with an off the shoulder ruffle blouse. By tucking in her top, she highlighted her natural waist and made the ensemble figure-flattering. She picked neutral laser cut wedges to provide the perfect amount of detail to the outfit. The neutral color of the wedges makes the laser cut subtle enough to be aesthetically pleasing. The unique design of her fringe cross-body bag incorporates the same sense of flair and fun that the shorts bring to the outfit. She picked silver rather than gold jewelry so that the simple bangles wouldn’t clash too harshly against the muted gray top. All in all, styling tie-dye is simple with the correct pairing of neutral pieces and including accessories with subtle details.
