STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Denim Days

Denim: it’s in every store right now, ranging from jeans, dresses, tunics and of course, the classic jacket. Denim jackets have been a staple in American fashion for decades. Though other denim has flown in and out of style, a classic Levi’s denim jacket will always be a classic piece.

The first denim jacket was created in 1880 by Levi Strauss. This jacket was worn out west by cowboys, railroad workers and miners. In the 1950’s, the jacket became part of the bad boy look. In the 1970s, the jacket became a part of any hippie’s attire. This jacket has quickly become a cult favorite and a classic American piece. The ability to pair it with basically anything makes it a staple for any Fashionista’s closet.

The best part of a classic denim jacket is its ability to either dress up or dress down an outfit. This Fashionista took a simple little black dress and turned it into a trendy daytime outfit. By pairing the jacket and dress with a structured over-the-shoulder bag and simple accessories such as a leather choker and a simple silver bracelet, this Fashionista easily created a flirty daytime look. Pairing the outfit with a trendy pair of white and black sneakers adds a sporty edge to the look.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I love denim jackets because they are able to make certain looks dressy, but they can also make a different outfit way more casual. I love how versatile they are!”
