STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Demand for Denim

Allow me to throw it back to a time where bell-bottoms were all the rage in the ‘70s, when acid wash was in the midst of becoming a staple of the ’80s and to when no one wanted to leave their house without their jean jacket in the ‘90s. These were times that are marked by a fabric’s ability to be on trend, no matter the decade.

Clearly denim has taken many forms over the years, and thankfully has come a long way since Flo Rida sang about pairing Apple Bottom jeans and “boots with the fur” circa 2008. Currently, I think one of the best forms of denim available to Fashionistas like ourselves would be the denim skirt.

Check out this Fashionista’s incorporation of a jean skirt into her fashion forward, yet simple look. She pairs the skirt with a loose knit top tucked into the waist band just enough so that it doesn’t disregard the shirt’s lace accents on the bottom. The top also adds an almost boho vibe to her trendy look. The red hued bag is complemented by the wash of the skirt with buttons running down the middle and adds a pop of color to her ensemble. She further accessorized her outfit by adding crisscross, neutral colored wedges to the mix and topping the outfit off with a generous amount of bracelets. These accessories keep things spiced up just enough in a way that doesn’t overpower the main trend being shown off: the jean skirt.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I feel that trends can be hard to keep up with and that you don’t need to follow every single one. Although, when you notice one that comes along and feel like it’s completely you, you have to take it and run with it.”
