STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Dare To Swear On Menswear

Girly details are awesome and fun! We love a good pink belt or a lace embellished blouse, who wouldn’t? But sometimes we want to step out of our comfort zone and try something a little more on the masculine side. I am talking to the girls who want an edgier look than flowers and pastels, but still want to stay looking sophisticated and feminine.

Move over pencil skirts, suit separates are in! Menswear as womenswear has been seen all over the runway for the past decade, but most recently high-end designers are telling us we need to watch out for this trend! Menswear on women is a look that will always be in style because it combines classic elements with new ideas. One of Chanel’s recent collections “Paris in Rome 2015/16” showcases classic structured elements we love in menswear such as oxford style button up blouses and crisp vests and adds feminine details such as outerwear paired with delicate details and tweed embellishment.

So how does such a stylish person like yourself recreate this trendy style? Check out this Fashionista’s look for some major style inspiration! A simple pair of black leggings matched with a more structured style button-up blouse makes this look the perfect blend of casual and sophisticated. The muted color of her blouse works great along with her all otherwise black ensemble and really reinforces the classic b/w element. Her silver jewelry is the perfect balance of girly meets edgy. Her chunky silver necklace brings in that edgy element and her Kate Spade bracelets add a touch of femininity. To top the look off, this Fashionista layers on a black faux fur vest, resembling the classic vest/shirt combo we see in menswear.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I am so in love with this outfit because I feel incredibly chic in it! It’s the perfect outfit to wear if you are attending an event and are unsure whether the dress code is more casual or business casual because this look can easily work for both.”
