STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Cut It Out

June 8th, 2015 at 2:00am

No matter where I look, whether walking around campus, checking out my Instagram feed or flipping through Cosmopolitan, crop tops are everywhere. This trend doesn’t seem to be going anywhere, especially as it begins getting warmer out. Putting your newly sun-kissed skin on display is fun, but in some situations a crop top can be a bit aggressive. In these cases, opting for cutouts is the way to go.

This Fashionista chose a patterned cutout romper for a trendy look that is easy to throw on. She paired it with a lightweight long black cardigan to provide herself with more coverage during the breezy day. To accessorize, she added a long boho necklace, along with gold and nude cuffed sandals. She topped the outfit off with a structured black bag to subdue all of her statement pieces.

Although cutouts sound exclusively like a summer trend, with the right tweaks you could easily turn this outfit into a chic fall ensemble. Add sheer tights, heeled booties, a heavier cardigan and a hat. As long as you’re not shaking in your booties, you’ll be able to rock them in any season!

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “If you want to make a statement in your outfit, you don’t necessarily need bold jewelry or a bright purse; cutouts can be enough of a statement. Also, loose, comfy clothing such as a romper that you can just quickly slip on to go to the beach or wherever is a definite go-to during the summer.”
