STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Crop It Like It’s Hot

Hello Fashionistas! This Friday I am here to show you how to style those crop tops. We all gravitate towards crop tops during this hot season to show a little extra skin and be a little extra sexy. However, some people have difficulties pairing their crop tops with the right bottoms to create a look that is just a tad risqué but still chic. With that said, let’s soak in some inspiration from the notorious Snoop Dogg and learn how to “crop it like it’s hot.”

If you plan on devouring that entire pizza at dinner or are conscious of showing a lot of skin, have no fear about wearing these short tops! Personally, I am not a huge fan of revealing the entire torso section, which happens when one wears a pair of low-rise bottoms with a crop top. So, to prevent that issue, I always pair my crop tops with a pair of high-waisted bottoms, whether it be a pair of jeans, shorts or a skirt. However, if you are down to channel your inner Rihanna, then by all means wear that crop top with low-rise jeans. Rock it with pure attitude and you will have everyone’s eyes on you, guaranteed.

To keep the ensemble mellow and a bit more on the classy side, this Fashionista paired her beautiful white crocheted crop top with a pair of well fitting, high-waisted skinny jeans. The dark wash bottoms help make the bright white color on top pop. To accessorize, she wore a pair of suede, fringe gladiator sandals and a lavender cross-body bag. Lastly, to top off the look, she protected her eyes with a pair of darkly tinted sunnies and a dainty gold necklace.

One major point to emphasize is whatever bottoms you pair with your crop top, make sure that the ensemble is not crazy. This means if you have a solid colored top, pair it with a funky pair of patterned bottoms to keep the ensemble interesting. If your top is bold and printed, then wear it with plain bottoms. You want the top and the bottom to complement each other, not clash. If both the top and the bottom are plain, then jazz it up with some accessories!

Lastly, the key to styling a crop top is to NOT pair it with overbearing accessories. I recommend avoiding statement pieces and anything that is too bold because you do not want to draw attention away from the crop top. The top is the center of the outfit, so whatever you choose to pair with it, make sure it is understated, gentle and soft.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I absolutely love crop tops and I practically wear them all the time. My main tip is to just stay confident and never be afraid to rock the occasional crop top because odds are you look great in it.”
