STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Color In The Cold

March 3rd, 2015 at 2:00am

For all of us who live in Ohio, lately we have had the extreme misfortune of having unbelievably cold weather. The temperatures have plummeted to terrible lows, which sadly makes dressing up for class the very last thing I (and many of my peers) want to do. When it comes to my wardrobe, I’ve resorted to all-neutral all the time, and I’d rather be in a pair of black leggings and gray sneakers than anything even remotely colorful.

However, while it is comfortable and truly reflective of my campus’s climate, my somber approach to dressing isn’t exactly making spring come around any faster. That’s why when I spotted this Fashionista, I instantly fell in love with her choice to wear colors, even in the midst of a frigid, snowy day. She wore a plum colored jacket with black leggings and black boots. She accessorized with maroon gloves and silver hoop earrings, and she finished off the look with a fuchsia lip color.

When the weather is terrible, and we have to walk in it to get to class, we’re subconsciously searching for any sign of brighter, warmer days. This Fashionista managed to channel that idea with her brightly colored look. Her outfit was a nice refresher from the sea of neutral colors I’m accustomed to walking through on a daily basis. It was happy and fun, all while being completely practical for the winter weather.

There’s still at least a good month left of winter, and it’s never too late to change up your approach to how you dress during these days. Go ahead and take a cue from this Fashionista, and your chilly gray days will instantly be brighter.
