STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Clothes Were the Days

As you can probably tell, I am obsessed with all things vintage or vintage-inspired. There is nothing better than a piece that has both history and personality. And the latest trends are embodying the better parts of our favorite older trends. The ‘90s cropped and mom jeans, ‘70s brights and bell-bottoms and ‘80s big hair and brows are all quickly making their way back on the scene. Celebs have efforlessly coined their favorite elements of vintage trends into their wardrobes, and this Fashionisto does the same.

His bright tropical pattern polo gives me all the summer 2013 feels, bringing me back to sunny days at the beach. And although the sun made an appearance, this Fashionisto’s use of pattern adds fun and brightness to the otherwise dreary days on campus. We were having one of those days where it looked gorgeous out, but it was actually freezing. His ‘90s reminiscent jean jacket was enough to keep him warm in between the sun dipping and diving between the clouds.

The comfy, cool jogger is the latest trend that everyone loves at the moment, and this Fashionisto does a great job at styling his cozy khaki pair to perfectly neutralize the brights in his ensemble. His mix of the old and the new is to die for. I can’t help but love the sneak peak of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air-esque socks paired his new yet timeless Clarks.

Mixing and matching the old with the new, like this Fashionisto , is a great way to put your best shoe forward and look fabulous.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Be yourself by dressing yourself. Don’t be afraid to step outside of the box. But don’t overdo it. A simple outfit with a piece that pops out and catches the eye is a great go-to.”
