STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Clash of the Patterns (Done Right)

Going to an HBCU, you can’t help but to see the same type of people with the same type of style. It can’t be helped though, as we are all culturally the same! Even if that is so, international and exchange students come to our school and make it all a bit lively. From personalities to style, the foreign students just so happen to be more of the best dressed students on campus.

This Fashionista from South Korea happened to be one of those bold foreign exchange students who just bring amazing style to the table. For the most part when it gets warm, we are all trying to find simplicity and style without having to forfeit our individuality. This Fashionista did so by mixing patterns and seeing where it would lead her. Thankfully, it led her to a glorious look! The striped T-shirt from Aeropostale was very fresh and warm for the summer. Nothing can go wrong with a white shirt. With stripes to boot, it looks like a summer staple. To add on to the simple but unique look, the Fashionista wore a jean pencil skirt with floral print. The muted color of the pattern goes well with the striped T-shirt. The floral jean skirt matches the minimalistic look as well.

To give the look a bit of pizazz, the Fashionista went a little Mariah Carey on us and wore some bejeweled sandals. If you are going for a simple look, why not jazz it up? To finish off her simple look, the Fashionista wore a simple gold necklace the pulled the whole cute and unique look together.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “There is nothing wrong wearing two different types of patterns. Just make sure the patterns complement one another and are suitable. With these tips, the Gurus and staff will be seeing you on The Sartorialist!”
