It’s safe to say neutrals have been making quite the impression these past months. Style trendsetters, Kanye West and Kim Kardashian West, are prime examples of this. They show us that having a neutral look can be anything but boring. Whether you want to do a monochromatic outfit or mix and match different tones, neutrals can be flattering, chic and functional.
Given that we live in the Midwest and it’s usually freezing at this time of year, it’s so important to wear layers. This Fashionista starts her outfit with a little pop culture in the form of a City of Compton T-shirt. On top of that, she has a simple white hooded jacket; something very lightweight so when she takes off her coat she is still comfortable. One of the best things about wearing layers is the added dimension the different patterns, colors and textures can give you. Leggings are a staple in any girl’s wardrobe, and this Fashionista added a pair of simple black ones to her look to stay comfy and casual. To pull together the whole outfit, she added a beautiful olive green wool coat that is not only perfect for class, but can be dressed up easily as well. This coat is what really caught my eye with her outfit. Not only is it a beautiful color and so versatile, but it is in tune with one of the hottest trends right now. She shows us that you don’t have to be a West to pull off a chic statement neutral.
To accessorize, this Fashionista kept things simple with a gold layered necklace. She stays with the white sneaker trend in her footwear, wearing a pair of Reebok Classics. Since this Fashionista was on her way to class when I spotted her, she has a large Michael Kors Hamilton satchel to carry all of her goodies. A classic red lip and simple makeup brings together the whole look without overdoing it.
