STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Choker Top Craze

Lately, it seems like every ’90s trend has come back full circle: crop tops, culottes and chokers especially have been seen everywhere. Of course, trends never come back exactly the same way; there’s always a twist. In this case, it’s the combination of a choker attached to an otherwise simple crop top!

The choker top trend doesn’t just limit itself to crop tops however, the choker top comes in a variety of different styles from long sleeved to off the shoulder to attached to a blouse. It adds such a unique touch to an outfit. From the front the outfit looks like an ordinary crop top and choker combo, but from behind you see that everything is combined in the racerback. And if you want to achieve the look and don’t want to spend the money? Just wear a neck-tie blouse and drape both ends of the tie around the front of your neck, then tie in the back.

I love how this Fashionista combined her choker top with other unique elements, which make her outfit the perfect combination of quirky and fun. Her brightly colored oversized Nike jacket is actually her mom’s, and it adds some athleisure flair (as well as some color) to her outfit. And her funky shoes with the Power Ranger socks tie everything together! Her flatforms with clear bottoms are so fun and unexpected, and the ability to put things in the bottoms adds another layer of interest. She put money in for this outfit, but other possibilities considered include lip products, sticks and pebbles. It’s amazing how all of these different pieces come together to form such a cohesive outfit.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I like how choker tops are fashionable yet low maintenance. They take away the stress of having to choose additional accessories.”
