STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Brown Is The New Black

There is no denying that almost every single female loves the color black. It can play various roles as a neutral shade, whether it is a base coat or the entire outfit remains a single color. However, the theory of adoration for the color black usually stops at females. While some men do indeed love black, most male fashion pieces are typically associated with other types of neutral colors — such as tan/khaki, olive green, charcoal gray, navy, denim blue and many more. These types of colors embody a more masculine vibe, whereas black and other colors like fuchsia, purple, red, yellow, etc. embody a more feminine vibe.

While the main focal point of this outfit is the graphic band T-shirt in a dark charcoal gray, this Fashionisto’s outfit is based upon the color brown. The brown color makes the shirt pop—it is not often we see that one neutral makes the other neutrals come alive, but in this outfit it is apparent.

This Fashionisto wears a pair of rusted, worn-in Chukka boots as his shoe of choice. Timberland boots, better known as “Tims,” are all the rage in men and women’s fashion. However, I will always have a deep love for Chukka boots. They can be casual and classy at the same time. The outfit continues with a pair of relaxed skinny chino pants. Chino’s can be worn for leisure but also can be dressed up when necessary. For the top half of his outfit, this Fashionisto opts for a burnt chestnut brown button-down cardigan. The cardigan look shows some effort in the outfit planning; rather than just throwing on a hoodie or crewneck sweatshirt that college students are used to doing. To complete the outfit, this Fashionisto also rocks a brown leather band watch and a pair of grayish-brown square glasses.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “I don’t like to be boring with anything I do. When I think about dressing for the cold, instead of just wearing a hoodie and sweatpants everyday, I try to mix it up.”
