STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Bolder Is Better

Wandering around campus in mid-winter looking for style inspiration can be, well, disheartening. With the winter chill in full force, pretty much everyone is exchanging warmth for fashion and piling on the ski-jackets, puffer coats and beanies. And let’s face it, there’s only a select few that can wear all of those items and still look chic—it’s okay, I’m not one of those few either. It’s a sad life, I know. But we can take solace in this Fashionista’s bold winter ensemble.

Amidst all of the dark and ill-fitted winter clothing, this Fashionista stood out right away with the pop of color from her cozy red checked sweater paired with a daring leather skater skirt. A skater skirt in the middle of winter can definitely be daunting, especially if you’re as daring as this Fashionista. She even ditched the tights in favor of showing off a little skin. Never fear, you can still show some skin, and keep yourself warm. A look to this Fashionista shows all you need is a pair of super rad over-the-knee boots, and you’re set to face the cold.

To keep herself warm and more seasonally appropriate, she tops the look off with a chunky knit infinity scarf—perfect for wrapping yourself in to brace the cold. Oh, let’s not forget that awesome winter white kate spade handbag, a perfect nod back to the frost nipping at your nose. If you’re looking to stay a bit warmer, you can top the look off with a structured trench coat to protect you from any wind chill, while still keeping it stylish.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Stand out! Try something new; don’t be afraid to dress it up every once in a while. Winter clothes don’t have to be boring.”
