STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK: Blackout With Neutrals

February 3rd, 2015 at 2:00am

Black has always been “in.” You can never go wrong with the simple but essential wardrobe staple of black. We all must admit that we have some form of black in our closets. It can be a simple black cardigan or the black, textured, high-waisted pants that this Fashionista wears. The blackout trend will never go out of style. But what about black paired with a neutral cardigan, lace-up, brown booties and gold-accented earrings? This Fashionista takes the trend to an entirely new level.

Soft colors are definitely in this winter, but who says you can’t keep on trend by mixing in some black? Yves Saint Laurent shows his fall/winter 2015 color line as shimmery gold. He mixes all-black with lighter shades, such as white, beige or brown, just like this Fashionista. This Fashionista’s mixture of neutral colors and black shows that she is up to date with the hottest trends. Even more, she is able to stay true to her personal style. Since black goes well with just about any color, you are able to find colors that work for you. You can also experiment with different outfit ideas.

So why are black and neutrals so special? This Fashionista answers that. Although neutral colors are normally for spring and summer months, the cardigan, the shoes and the earrings definitely compliment her all-black attire. Black is always on trend because it is so versatile and can be worn year-round. Also, black can make the simplest outfits have the most style and elegance. You will never go wrong with all black, but next time, try accenting it with neutral tones.

What is your STYLE ADVICE OF THE WEEK? “Step outside of the trend box. It is always nice to show the world a little piece of who you are through the clothes you choose to wear.”
